How do I cope with scan anxiety after finishing lung cancer treatment?

I just finished my first course of treatment for Stage 3B NSCLC, complicated by blood clots in my leg and lungs. I had a repeat scan Saturday. Today I meet with the oncologist to find out the results of the scan and where I go from here. I am so scared. I didn't sleep at all last night. I know I don't want to ever have chemo again. How do I get through this? So many people think I am now "fine" since I completed treatment. I don't think I will ever again be fine. Any words of wisdom for me?

The anxiety around scan results is incredibly common and completely understandable, especially when facing the uncertainty that comes after completing treatment. Many people in the survivorship community share these same feelings about scans and the fear that comes with waiting for results. The transition period after treatment can feel overwhelming, and it's normal for others around you to not fully grasp what this ongoing emotional journey looks like. Consider connecting with others here who understand exactly what scan anxiety feels like, and remember that taking things one appointment at a time can help make the uncertainty more manageable.
