I have been out of treatment since Oct 2024 for Stage 1, Grade 3. Triple Positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. 17 months post double mastectomy; Neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior, resulted in complete resolution, resulting in Stage 0. It has taken me over 1 year to utter the word, Breast Cancer Survivor 🎀. I am retiring after 43 years as a RN, and 27 years as a nurse practitioner. I am getting my quality of life back. To all in your early stages of the cancer fight, give yourself grace to experience the ebb and flow of emotions, physical changes.

What an incredible milestone to celebrate - both completing treatment and embarking on a well-deserved retirement after decades of caring for others. The journey to embracing the survivor identity is deeply personal and happens in its own time, and your message about giving grace during the emotional and physical changes of cancer treatment offers such valuable wisdom to others navigating their own paths. Wishing you all the best as you focus on reclaiming your quality of life in this new chapter.

It can be overwhelming when in the back of your mind, you wonder is this the day after labs or a scan that you find out, it's back. I am in therapy because I struggle with my test anxiety.
