Should I be worried about calcifications found during breast exam after cancer?

Hi everyone, I am Karon. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 1 year ago. I’m in the process of taking the dreaded tamoxifen in March 2026. I had a breast exam on Friday. My radiologist wants me to get a biopsy in my left breast die to calcification. I am praying that my results are benign. Statistically, 0.2% of persons have breast cancer in the opposite breast after initial diagnoses of breast cancer. I’m not sure what God has planned for me, but I don’t want to go through this again. Please keep me in prayer. Thank you.

It's completely understandable to feel anxious about this news, especially given what you've already been through. While calcifications are quite common and often turn out to be benign, the waiting period before biopsy results can feel overwhelming for anyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis. Many community members have shared similar experiences with follow-up screenings and the emotional challenges that come with them. Sending positive thoughts your way as you await your results - please feel free to share updates with the community when you're ready.

I completely agree that the waiting is the hardest part, and it might help to ask your care team about the timeline for results so you can mentally prepare for that window of uncertainty.

Karen, life is made up of moments and trials such as this. Each of us that go through these life events are gifted with our own way of managing the fears and emotions. My personal experience with my diagnosis of P.C. reset my life just as I celebrated my 60th birthday and Christmas weeks before COVID changed the world. I had to walk into John's Hopkins Hospital for my surgery alone and spent a week recovering alone since no one else was allowed to join me. That was my battle. After that experience, my life was realigned and my journey is mine to own. Pray 🙏 for peace. You are never alone!
