Leg Weakness After Prostate Cancer Radiation: Anyone Else?

I’m going to call my oncologist group and ask but I’d like to see if anyone else is experiencing the same. I’m just over a month out of radiation treatment for prostate cancer and I have zero strength in my legs. I can’t get up the stairs without help. There is pain in my thighs mostly in the front going down to my knees. I’m riding my exercise bike to try and strengthen things up but it’s slow going. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

This sounds like a challenging part of your recovery journey, and reaching out to your oncology team is definitely the right step. Many people in this community have shared similar experiences with fatigue and physical changes after treatment, so you're not alone in dealing with these effects. Staying active with your exercise bike shows great determination, and connecting with others here who may have gone through something similar could provide valuable insights and encouragement.

I'm 72yrs old and about a year and a half since my radiation treatments for stage 4 prostate cancer . I didn't have any pain but I'm still dealing with the fatigue which can come from the radiation and also from the hormone therapy

Yes fatigue. Take naps.

During 45 days of high dose radiation (81 grays), I experienced fatigue. Afternoon naps helped. At completion, I began daily walks and light dumbbell lifting on alternate days. Androgen deprivation therapy more than radiation affected strength, I believe, but whichever, moderate exercise was good for the mind and the body.
