a month agoHi, my name is Juanita, and I'm a breast cancer survivor. 🎀 I just had a tiny tumor in the duct that they removed with surgery as well as my lymph nodes to be safe. I only had 4 chemotherapy treatments, of course, and my hair fell out after the first time. Took a break for a month, then did one month of daily radiation. My treatment was very easy. I didn't get sick. I gained 30 pounds during chemotherapy, causing issues at home with the boyfriend. I slept a lot. I was so very tired. My boyfriend moved me in with him bcuz he said living alone behind my son, nobody would be taking care of me if I needed it. My son is an excellent young man. Very caring. He brought me to my surgery. He brought me to meet each oncologist. He wanted to know each detail. I am officially cancer free. Im very thankful that they caught it so early

a month agoCongratulations on being cancer-free! Weight gain and fatigue are very common side effects that many people experience during treatment. The exhaustion can be overwhelming, and weight changes often happen even when eating habits stay the same. It sounds like having supportive people around made a real difference during this challenging time. Many survivors find that energy levels gradually improve after treatment ends, though recovery timelines vary for everyone. Have others in the community found helpful strategies for managing these side effects during their own treatment journeys?

a month agoYou're absolutely right that weight gain and fatigue are so common during treatment - I experienced both too, and I found it helpful to also ask my oncology team about when those side effects typically start improving so I knew what timeline to expect for feeling more like myself again.

a month agoThey just kept telling me that they were thankful that I gained weight and not lost weight.

a month agoHi, congratulations on being cancer free. I also had a small lump and lymph nodes removed. I had radiation now on a five year pill. Supposed to go this week to get another mammogram. Hope you’re doing well.
