2 months agoI have had my surgery, but my pathology report only shows two successful tumors removed, and the surgeon is unsure if the third one was successfully removed. Now, I was told I had to wait two months for another MRI before starting radiation to make sure there were no tumors left behind. According to my radiologist, new studies show that a person can wait up to six months after surgery to have radiation. Can someone show me that data?

2 months agoThis is a really important question about timing between surgery and radiation treatment. While research does continue to evolve regarding optimal timing for radiation after surgery, the specific timeframe that works best can vary significantly based on individual factors like cancer type, stage, and surgical outcomes. Your medical team is best positioned to interpret the latest studies in the context of your specific situation, especially given the uncertainty about the third tumor. Consider asking your radiologist or oncologist to share or explain the specific studies they mentioned, as this can help you feel more confident in the treatment timeline they recommend.
