December of 2025 I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ. January 28th I had a bilateral mastectomy with sentinel node biopsy. Pathology revealed micro evasive of the cancer, but my margins are good. I had eschar burns on the right side that are healing, and still some swelling. I am waiting now for the results of my MammaPrint to see if chemo is going to be needed. Taking it a day at a time and thankful it was caught so early.

The decision about chemotherapy after surgery often depends on several factors that your medical team will carefully evaluate, including the test results you're waiting for. It sounds like you're taking a thoughtful approach by working with your healthcare providers and waiting for the MammaPrint results to guide your treatment plan. Many people in this community understand the uncertainty of waiting for test results and the day-by-day approach you're taking - you're definitely not alone in this experience.

Hi Anne, it looks like we are on a similar path. My diagnosis came in December as well, it was grade 3 DCIS with microinvasion. Had my Bilateral Mastectomy with Sentinel nodes removed on January 27th. My pathology report came back clean and like you, I'm very grateful it was caught early! Sounds like you also had some radiation? Is that what the burns are from? Are you also doing reconstruction?
