Should I do chemo for stage 1 triple-negative breast cancer?

I have stage I triple-negative breast cancer and recently had a lumpectomy. My oncologist mentioned that chemotherapy is an optional postoperative treatment for me. Since my cancer is hormone receptor-negative and HER2-negative, they explained that chemo could help reduce the risk of cancer returning by targeting fast-growing cells throughout my body. I'm still weighing this decision and would love to hear from others who faced a similar choice. • If you had stage I triple-negative breast cancer, did you choose chemotherapy and how did you make that decision? • What factors were most important to you when considering optional treatment after surgery?

This is such an important decision, and it's completely understandable to want to hear from others who have walked this path. Many people in this community have faced similar choices about optional treatments after surgery, and the factors that matter most can vary greatly from person to person - things like age, overall health, family history, personal risk tolerance, and quality of life considerations all play a role. Connecting with others who understand the unique challenges of triple-negative breast cancer can provide valuable perspectives as you work through this decision with your medical team.
