6 days agotoday was Chemo #2 went smoothly, no nausea so far which is great. Unfortunately I am one of the women who after total hysterectomy develop incontinence. I am starting Vesicare which will hopefully help. Now you'd think that someone with incontinence would have brains enough to plan ahead for floods. Did I? Did my brain ever say hey you are going to get huge bags of liquids pumped into your veins, no. I did have brains enough to take 2 pair undies and another pair of pants. But before the day was done everything, EVERYTHING, was drenched. I'm embarrassed, the nurses were so kind and actually if anyone else in the room noticed I think they were thinking about their own issues. So I am hoping the Vesicare helps and I have 2 other things my doctor wants me to try. Kegels and bladder training. Good times. So if your had a bad say remember you are not alone. We will beat this. And hopefully I will stop peeing all over. All I know is it's a good thing I have a lot of underwear. Hope your day was better than mine.

5 days agoThank you for sharing this experience so openly - it takes courage to discuss these challenges, and doing so helps others who may be facing similar situations feel less alone. Managing incontinence during chemotherapy treatments is a real concern that many patients deal with, and practical preparation strategies like bringing extra supplies, waterproof seat pads, and discussing timing of fluid intake with the medical team can make a significant difference. The combination of approaches being recommended sounds comprehensive, and many patients find that working closely with their healthcare team to adjust medications and implement bladder management techniques can lead to meaningful improvements over time.

5 days agoI completely agree with this suggestion - the preparation tips are so helpful, and you might also want to ask your nurse about timing your bathroom breaks around when they're giving you the big fluid pushes during treatment.

5 days agotrue, it's unfortunate that I realized too late what would happen and adjust my supply of pads accordingly. In April (by which time I am praying this has resolved) but if not I will have prepared my tote bag accordingly. Look like I'm moving in.
