What's recovery like after breast-conserving surgery and radiation?

I share in this diagnosis and hàd a lumpectomy plus 15 radiation treatments as one of 4 options to follow. I had very little discomfort nor side effects during the radiation, but did have chronic fatigue after it was done. I typically travel from Ohio to Florida January to April and schelduled my flight the day after the last treatment. I had great plans to repaint the interior of my mother's house while there, but found I didn't have the energy to do it and hired a helper. I also scheduled hip replacement surgery within 2 months, but found I had mostly regained my energy by then! My 6 month mammogram show full recovery! Will continue to be checked with regular scans yearly.

I had 33 radiation treatments back in 1994 for a 1cm tumor. I had a lumpectomy and radiation. Now, 32 years later, I have just been diagnosed with Invasive ductal carcinoma 1.7 cm that is Negative Estrogen receptive, and only 1% positive Progesterone receptive and it's an aggressive type of tumor. So, the lumpectomy and radiation cured my first cancer. If you have an olive complexion, it's not too bad. It's the blondes and very white skinned ladies that the radiation treatments affect worse.
