Why didn't my oncologist recommend radiation for my stage 4 colon cancer?

Hi.I have stage 4 colon cancer I did a years worth of of iv chemo where I carried that bag around.It spread from my colon to my ovaries. Mt first surgery I had part of my colon removed lymph noids.Then I had a second surgery had a hysterectomy. Now it's in my liver I have been on a chemo pill for 7 mths and it has stop my cancer from growing.But when I first found out I had colon cancer I ask about radiation and my oncologist said we dt do that with your type of cancer.But I am seeing people on here having radiation with colon cancer so now I am confused and wondering why my oncologist told me that.

What does palliative treatment mean and how do you cope with the uncertainty?

I don't know what I can contribute. So far, I have had symptoms show up 1 at a time, then recede. The 1 exception has been serial dysfunction. I after reading some of these posts,I guess I can call myself lucky. My doctor tells me the treatment plan is palliative. I feel the sword of Damocles is sitting over me.

Anyone else having GI problems with chemo pump and radiation combo?

I am using the chemo pump along with radiation. Tomorrow is my 4th day of treatment of radiation and I have till Friday till I stop the pump for the weekend until Monday. No nausea or stomach upset just pain from the radiation. Is anyone else using this combination. Also having problems getting my GI system regulated. One doc says use this another says use this. They have already had my electrolytes messed up once to where I had to go to the hospital to get fluids. Lynsezz is crazy expensive so they have me on a cheaper pill I take twice a day. Then they say take two dulcolax and drink Mirilax twice a day. I think that is too many laxatives. I’m trying colace on my own and still having problems. Anyone else having problems getting your GI system regulated?

"How can I manage cancer treatment side effects?"

I don't know about beating it but the CT scans show no growth or metastis.I'm a walking pharmacy just to help with the side effects

Can fatigue and shortness of breath from cancer treatment improve?

Has anyone had other infusion treatment or medication for adjunctive therapy? If so how did it go ? Feeling extreme fatigue and shortness of breath - anyone else experience this and did it ever go away ? Less movement seems better with tons of bed rest

Has Anyone Experienced Retifanlimab Immunotherapy Treatment?

Has anyone been through an Immunotherapy treatment using Retifanlimab....if so, could you share your experiences including side effects, progress, post treatment, and if it was used in combination with chemotherapy or stand alone. Thanks

My First Day of Chemo: Better Than Expected

Today I was the big day, I had my first round of chemo, it went better than expected. After talking to people, and reading what some of you have gone I was expecting the worst, but right now that only side effect I’ve had is hot flashes. But I’ll take that. So now I understand every one goes through treatment different, we are all unique and not all of us going to go through the same symptoms, so my advice is be prepared for the worst and expect the best. My Colorectal Cancer Treatment Journey

I was diagnosed in March, had my Port surgery 4/24 & first FolFox treatment 4/30. I made it through 5 treatments before having to skip a week to get my WBC back up. I finished the 6th with my pump disconnect today. I am set to finish the last two treatments, have a scan and then move to 30 rounds of radiation, 5 days per week for 6 weeks. Then I may be a candidate for surgery.

Living on Borrowed Time

I don't know if you can call this beating it. But the doctor called it palliative care. I guess that means I'll stay alive for some time before I finally succumb

My Journey with Stage 4 Colon Cancer

It was on April 3rd of this year that I actually got diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer, when I got the news I was not only shocked but devastated and immediately struck with a greater fear than I've ever felt before. I was actually told that I would have to have surgery to take this Mass out of me which when they took the mass out they described it as being the size of an orange or a grapefruit and that it had actually spread to other parts of my colorectal area. I'm currently going to eskenazi hospital to the infusion center every two weeks for my chemotherapy which actually started on June 10th my last treatment was recently on July 7th my next treatment is on July 21st. I am also currently scheduled to go to IU radiation oncology at the Simon Cancer center on barnhill drive in Indianapolis Indiana to begin radiation treatment for pain management because my l4 and l5 area of my lower back has cancer as well as my right hip and a few spots on my left ribs.
