Why does food taste terrible after eating during cancer treatment?

a day agoI have completed 7 weeks of radiation and three rounds of chemo for early stage base of tongue cancer. When I eat something, the taste is ok at first but as I continue to eat the taste turns into something terrible. Also, I have a constant clear fluid running from my nose.

21 hours agoTaste changes during cancer treatment are unfortunately common and can make eating challenging when proper nutrition is so important. The combination of radiation to the head and neck area along with chemotherapy often affects taste buds and saliva production, which can explain why flavors start normal but then become unpleasant as you continue eating. Many patients in this community have shared similar experiences, and while these effects can be frustrating, they often improve gradually after treatment ends, though recovery timelines vary for everyone.
