What to expect from palliative care services?

Is anyone using, or have used, palliative care services? If so, what was your experience? Was it worth it? What goals did you have and did you achieve them? I am going to meet with a palliative care provider and am curious what others got from the service.

Meeting with a palliative care provider is a common step for people with kidney cancer, and asking others about their experiences is a great way to prepare. Palliative care teams often focus on comfort, symptom support, and helping with day-to-day quality of life alongside other care. Many people find it helpful to write down their goals and questions before the visit. The care team can explain what they offer and how it fits with the rest of the treatment plan. Members of this renal cell carcinoma community are welcome to share what their palliative care experience was like, and the poster is invited to share how the meeting goes.
