13 days agoMy non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer has come back. I've been reading about options doctors may discuss: surveillance with regular cystoscopy checks, BCG or chemotherapy placed directly in the bladder, a clinical trial, or cystectomy, which is surgery to remove the bladder. I received BCG in mid-2023, and I'm curious how that may shape the options my care team discusses with me. I'd love to hear from others with a similar situation. - If your cancer returned after BCG, which options did your care team talk with you about? - What was it like going through the option you chose, and what do you wish you had known?

13 days agoFacing a return of bladder cancer after BCG can bring up a lot of questions, and reaching out to ask others is a thoughtful step. Many people in the Bladder Cancer community talk about options like surveillance, treatment placed in the bladder, clinical trials, or surgery, and the timing of earlier BCG is often something care teams consider when they review next steps. A helpful idea may be to write down questions for the next appointment, such as why each option is being suggested and what follow-up would look like. Hopefully others who have been through a recurrence will share their stories here, and sharing what has felt most helpful or what you want to learn more about can help the conversation along.

8 days agoI had stage 3 bladder cancer, urologist said removal my best option. I said going through start chemo. After 7 months of chemo, my oncologist scheduled a CT scan, and no tumor. On Oct 2 had bladder stone removed and urologist said no sign of a tumor. He then apologized for suggesting removal and there's other options. So my advice is to schedule an appointment with oncologist
